Joseph Pallucca, 18, salesman, attempted to save Vincent Chiappetta, 40, merchant, from drowning, Saint Paul, Kansas, July 18, 1926. While Chiappetta was wading in the Neosho River, he got into deep water 25 feet from the bank. Pallucca swam eight feet to him. After a prolonged struggle, in which both were momentarily submerged many times, they became separated just as another man reached them. The man took Chiappetta a few feet to wadable water and then assisted Pallucca, who was weak and winded. 28351-2329
