Junius P. Clendenin saved Lucy and Jesse L. Moore from being struck by a train, Wiggins, Mississippi, June 7, 1929. Mrs. Moore, 57, leading Jesse, 4, by the hand, started to cross a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of 15 m.p.h., and she tripped and fell on Jesse between the rails. CIendenin, 57, freight agent, who had but one eye and whose right arm was weak, ran eight feet to a point between the rails and grasped her clothing at the back as he stood astride of her, and tried to lift her but could not. The train was then 80 feet from them. Clendenin then got to one side of Mrs. Moore and pushed and rolled both her and Jesse from the track. He got clear of the track when the train was not more than five feet from him.
