Karin S. Lundeberg, 19, stenographer, died attempting to save Evelyn M. Anderson, 18, from drowning, Farmington, Connecticut, July 5, 1920. Miss Anderson swam 50 feet from the bank of the Farmington River and then began to struggle, where the water was six to eight feet deep and there was a strong eddy. Miss Lundeberg ran into the water and swam 45 feet to Miss Anderson and grasped the back of her bathing suit with one hand. They struggled as though trying to swim but made no progress toward the bank. Then they went under the surface several times and were drowned. 20524-1607
