Kathrine E. Ernsberger, 10, schoolgirl, saved Louise E. Westlake, 31, from drowning, Auburn, New York, September 4, 1922. Mrs. Westlake, swimming in Owasco Lake, let down to touch bottom in deep water about 10 feet from a dock. She was submerged and became frantic. Kathrine dived from the dock, swam to Mrs. Westlake, and took hold of her hand. They went under the surface together at least once, but Kathrine towed Mrs. Westlake several feet toward the dock, and a woman, standing in water to her chin, then assisted Mrs. Westlake to the dock. 22788-1797
