Kelly Annette Thomason rescued Christopher A. Jarvis from assault, Little Rock, Arkansas, August 25, 1995. Jarvis, 22, police officer, was struggling with a man in the parking lot of a store after the man had become belligerent and combative during questioning. Ms. Thomason, 36, realtor, who had aided Jarvis in chasing the man down, was in her van nearby. As the assailant reached for a gun that was in the waistband of his trousers, Ms. Thomason left her van and joined in the struggle. She secured the assailant’s gun and took it to her van, then returned to Jarvis and helped him and another arriving officer to handcuff the assailant. Jarvis sustained injury to his right hand and wrist and other bruising; he recovered. Ms. Thomason required hospital treatment for a sprained wrist, and she bruised her knees.
