Kenneth R. Oliver, 11, schoolboy, saved Gladys M. Russell, 7, from being run over by a train, Tampico, Illinois, March 15,1912. Gladys stood midway between the rails of a railroad track without noticing a train that was approaching her at a speed of 25 m.p.h. When it was 100 feet from her, Kenneth saw her danger. He ran 20 feet over a snow-covered crossing and pushed her off the track, clearing the track himself when the pilot was but 10 feet distant. 8416-744
