Laurie S. Rogerson saved Sara J. Reeves, 22, from drowning, Georgetown, South Carolina, July 13, 1927. While Miss Reeves was bathing in the Atlantic Ocean, she was carried by an undertow to a point 350 feet from shore. Rogerson, 20, student, who was fatigued from swimming, waded from shore, jumped breakers three feet high, and then swam 200 feet to Miss Reeves. He took hold of her and slowly swam 175 feet toward shore with her. As he waded nearer to shore, Miss Reeves collapsed. Others met Rogerson and took Miss Reeves to shore. She was revived.
