Le Roy V. Williams, 29, taxicab business proprietor, saved Daniel V. Holmes, 81, canvasser, from being killed by a train, Bradford, Pennsylvania, December 18, 1916. Holmes, who was hard of hearing, stepped onto a track in front of a passenger train that was moving at a speed of 20 m.p.h. Williams ran 25 feet to him over planks covered with snow and pushed him from the track, escaping from the path of the locomotive himself by a few feet. 17586-1316
