LeRoy Wise, 32, drayman, died attempting to save Florence L. Yochum, 51; Dora Shorts, 31; G. Washington Shorts, 69, farmer, and Gilbert M. Daniels, 68, farmer, from being killed by a train, Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, September 21, 1916. Daniels stopped his automobile on a railroad track, unaware that a train was approaching on it. Wise ran to the automobile and tried to shove it off the track. The train struck the automobile and carried it 350 feet, seriously injuring the occupants. Wise’s skull was crushed, and he died an hour after the act. 17192-1262
