Lewis A. Butler saved Domenick di Lucenti from being killed by a train, Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, May 2, 1952. While crossing a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of 40 m.p.h., di Lucenti, 52, railroad shopman, stumbled and fell prone between the rails and was dazed and unable to rise. ButIer, 33, machinist’s helper, immediately ran eight feet on an asphalt crosswalk to the track. He seized di Lucenti at the shoulder when the train was 100 feet from them and jerked him from the track, barely clearing the locomotive, which passed at unreduced speed. 42565-3788
