Lonnie Burton died attempting to save Robert R. Dimpter from suffocation, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 29, 1976. While working at a sewer manhole, Dimpter, 20, was overcome and then floated facedown in sewage about eight feet deep three feet below the manhole opening. Burton, 26, truck-driver, was attracted and entered the manhole. Burton lost consciousness and also floated face down in the sewage. Firemen removed Dimpter and Burton, who were dead.
