Lora A. Yocom, 43, housewife, attempted.to save Katherine E. Yocom, 66, from being killed by an electric train, Brazil, Indiana, May 30, 1923. Katherine was walking on a bridge, eight feet wide, when a train of two electric cars, approaching at a speed of 45 m.p.h., was 400 feet from her. She tripped and fell as she started toward Lora, who had called to her from the end of the bridge. The younger woman ran 11 feet to her and half carried and dragged her to the end of the bridge, where they were struck by the train, running at a speed of 25 m.p.h. They were knocked off the track, and the older woman died of her injuries several hours later. Lora was severely bruised and shocked, but she recovered. 23343-1872
