Loreto Camarra, 26, student, died attempting to save Fred H. Robinson, 12, schoolboy, from drowning, Boston, Massachusetts, June 24, 1916. Fred and a companion, neither of whom could swim, were thrown from a canoe that capsized at the middle of the Neponset River. A man saved the companion, but Fred drifted downstream and became separated from the canoe. Camarra dived from the bank and swam 55 feet to Fred. He seized Fred, but Fred grasped him around the neck. A struggle ensued, and they sank together and were drowned. 16636-1291
