Louis A. Benoist, 14, schoolboy, saved A. Pandely Pattison, 12, schoolboy, from drowning, Biloxi, Mississippi, June 11, 1913. Pandely became distressed in the Mississippi Sound, 170 feet from shore, where the water was seven feet deep. Louis swam to him from a bathing platform 45 feet away and was seized and forced under water by Pandely. Louis freed himself and swam to a boat anchored 55 feet away, towing Pandely after him by the hair. Both boys had swallowed water, and Pandely was exhausted, but he recovered. 11264-1148
