Luis Duris saved Edward J. Lehner from being killed by a train, Duquesne, Pennsylvania, January 26, 1926. Lehner, 29, signal repairer, started to leave a track on which a passenger train was approaching at a speed of 25 m.p.h., and his foot got caught between a switch rod and a cross tie. Duris, 36, laborer, ran 18 feet on the track to Lehner, reaching him when the train was 130 feet distant. He stooped, grasped Lehner’s knees with both arms, freed his foot, and carried him from the track when the train was 40 feet from them. They fell upon some rails four feet from the track but were not injured. 27212-2209
