Luis Rodriguez saved Richard Urbanski from drowning, Fort Erie, Ontario, October 23, 1996. While fishing the Niagara River from his boat anchored about 300 feet from the bank, Urbanski, 67, fell into the 58-degree water. He was unable to pull himself back into the boat. Passersby, including Rodriguez, 22, student, gathered on the bank. After removing his outer attire, Rodriguez waded and swam to Urbanski, the cold water causing him to tire. While Urbanski clung to the boat, Rodriguez grasped it with one hand and stroked with the other to tow Urbanski and the boat to the bank. Both Urbanski and Rodriguez recovered from exposure to cold water.
