Luther B. Weaver died attempting to save George Mabern from burning, Dallas, Texas, July 15, 1912. Mabern, 25, was working in a room near various vessels containing gasoline when an explosion occurred, and he fell or was knocked to the floor. Weaver, 35, proprietor of a dye house, ran from a place of safety in another room and had reached the door leading to the room in which Mabern lay, when there was another explosion, which was terrific. He did not hesitate but, with his clothing on fire and surrounded by flames, ran a couple of steps to Mabern. He dragged Mabern, whose clothing was on fire, into another room out of the path of the flames. Mabern then crawled to the street, but both died of their burns within two days. 10516-864
