Lynn F. Wilcox, 23, farmer, attempted to save Leroy A. Keller, 22, farmer, from suffocation, Pennant, Saskatchewan, December 1, 1911. Keller, standing on a bolt stuck through the end of a cable, was being raised from the bottom of a well in which dynamite had recently been exploded. He was overcome by smoke and fumes and fell to the bottom of the 70-foot-deep well. Wilcox had himself lowered, standing on the bolt, and when he reached the bottom, he attempted to secure Keller with a rope. He felt himself becoming weak and thought that he was about to be overcome. Believing that he had Keller secured, he called to be raised. He was semiconscious when he reached the surface, and he was taken from the cable by force, as he clung to it so tightly. He was revived. Another man attempted to save Keller, but both were suffocated. 7759-810
