Magdalini Chormova rescued Thomas Chormovas from assault, Charlotte, North Carolina, March 5, 2020. Chormovas, 51, was in his restaurant when a man entered, pointed a pistol at him, and demanded money. Chormova, 48, non-profit executive and Chormovas’s sister, was nearby and to the rear of the assailant. She ran up behind the assailant and grasped him by the shoulders. Chormovas moved to the assailant and the three struggled, during which time the assailant fired the pistol several times, four bullets striking Chormova. The assailant was taken to the floor and held down by Chormova and Chormovas and forced to release the pistol, which was removed from the immediate area. Police arrived and apprehended the assailant. Chormovas sustained broken ribs; he recovered. Chormova was hospitalized several weeks for extensive surgery related to the gunshot wounds and other serious injuries.
