Margaret F. Rush died saving Marilda J. Nash from drowning, Bloomington, Indiana, May 16, 1942. Miss Nash, 18, fell into a pond in water 20 feet deep six feet from a vertical bank eight feet high. Margaret, 13, schoolgirl, who was clothed, dived from the bank, swam two feet to Miss Nash, and took hold of her. She swam six feet at an angle toward the bank, pushing Miss Nash, and then her hold was released. They were momentarily submerged, and Miss Nash grasped Margaret around the neck with one arm. From shallow water a boy extended a pole to Miss Nash, who released Margaret, took hold of the pole, and was aided to the bank. Margaret sank and was drowned. 39503-3275
