Marguerite C. Foley saved Elizabeth G. Stevenson from drowning, Farrandsville, Pennsylvania, July 29, 1926. While Elizabeth, 15, was swimming in the West Branch of the Susquehanna River over 200 feet from the banks, she was seized with cramp and was unable to swim. Marguerite, 15, schoolgirl, who was tired from swimming, swam 200 feet to her and took hold of her. Elizabeth grasped Marguerite, pulling her under the surface momentarily. Marguerite freed herself, took hold of Elizabeth, and swam 190 feet with her to wadable water. 26922-2183
