Max Suess, 21, brickmaker, died attempting to save Eva Ehlers, 17, and Maud Worles, 19, from drowning, North Mankato, Minnesota, June 25, 1908. Suess swam to the girls, who called for help while swimming in an inundated pasture field 150 feet from the water’s edge. He grabbed one of them, but they were carried off by the current, and all three were drowned. 2675-217
