Melbourne F. Trefry, Jr., saved Reginald W. J. Jackson from drowning, Gloucester, Massachusetts, September 18, 1920. Reginald, 10, and Melbourne, 15, schoolboy, wearing their clothing, got into the water from a sailboat, which tilted and sank in a cove in Gloucester Harbor 150 feet from the bank, where the water was 15 feet deep. Melbourne took hold of Reginald with one hand and swam about 100 feet toward a row of piles. Two men in a rowboat then met them and took them to the bank. Reginald was unconscious but was resuscitated. Melbourne was dazed and about exhausted. 22593-1969
