Nolan Harold Harbar died attempting to save Ovid B. Eng from drowning, Port Renfrew, British Columbia, January 19, 1985. Eng, 22, a non-swimmer, stood on exposed rocks in an inlet off Juan de Fuca Strait of the Pacific Ocean when a wave washed him into the water. A friend, Harbar, 21, unemployed, jumped from the rocks into the frigid water and swam to Eng. Despite rough water conditions and a strong tidal current, Harbar grasped Eng and swam with him toward shore. They disappeared beneath the surface of the water and were not seen again. Their bodies were not recovered. 60185-6963
