Noldon Townsell saved Emma E. Seale from being run over by an autotruck, Waco, Texas, February 1, 1912. As Noldon, 16, porter, and Emma, 4, were crossing a street, the child darted ahead of Noldon in front of an autotruck that was approaching at a speed of 12 m.p.h. Noldon sprang forward and landed between the child and the autotruck. He grasped Emma’s shoulders and pushed her out of the path of the machine just as it struck him. He was knocked to the pavement, and one wheel ran over his leg. Emma was not injured, but Noldon suffered a broken rib and was otherwise injured, being disabled two months.
