Owen Carter, 29, motion picture camera operator, died attempting to save Grace E. Forman, 24, from drowning, Canon City, Colorado, July 1, 1914. To act her part in a moving picture play, Mrs. Forman rode on horseback into the Arkansas River, where there was a swift current. The horse stumbled and fell 30 feet from the bank and threw Mrs. Forman into the water. A man rode on horseback to Mrs. Forman, and she grasped his hand, but she soon lost her hold and drifted downstream, and the horse took the man to the bank. Carter swam from the bank 320 feet downstream and stood up in water 3.5 feet deep. Mrs. Forman drifted to him, staggered to her feet in front of him, and threw her arms on his shoulders. Both then disappeared and were drowned. 13362-1548
