P. Neville Sells, Jr., helped to rescue John W. McKenney from burning, Jacksonville, Florida, July 8, 1971. Following a highway accident, McKenney, 22, shrimp fisherman, lay unconscious in the front seat of a two-door sedan as flames broke out at the rear end and were fed by leaking gasoline. Sells, 29, production supervisor, and his brother ran to the automobile, where flames inside were spreading rapidly from the rear end. Sells broke the glass in a door window. The brother reached into the sedan and pulled McKenney to the opening. The fire had spread to the front seat as Sells also reached into the automobile and took hold of McKenney. Flames appeared at the window opening while Sells and his brother ware pulling McKenney through it. Soon afterward the sedan was completely filled with flames. McKenney, Sells, and his brother all recovered from burns they had sustained.
