Crawford, 13, schoolgirl, helped to save Danny L. McIlveene, 12, student, from drowning, Smackover, Arkansas, August 28, 1965. While swimming in a pond at a church camp, Mcllveene played out 100 feet from the bank in water eight feet deep and struggled with his brother and two men who tried to assist him. They left when another man and two youths swam to McIlveene, who continued flailing wildly and caused the youths to be submerged briefly. Patricia swam 75 feet to behind McIlveene. She reached over his shoulder and grasped him by the chin. By then Mcllveene, who outweighed Patricia by 50 pounds, nearly was exhausted.
