Patrick Casey, 25, pipefitter, died attempting to save William B. Jones, 30, foreman, from suffocation, Youngstown, Ohio, April 29, 1909. Casey descended a ladder to the bottom of a gasometer pit, which was 10 feet deep and filled with carbon monoxide. He had carried Jones, who was unconscious, almost to the ladder when he was overcome. Both were gotten out, but neither could be revived. 3678-300
