While bathing in Lake Erie, Mrs. Muth, 41, who was a poor swimmer, slipped from an inflated tire-tube and was submerged briefly in deep water 250 feet from shore. As the tube drifted beyond her reach, she floundered and called to Patrick, 12, schoolboy, who was 125 feet away, for help. He swam to Mrs. Muth, who Iunged and grasped his shoulder. Patrick submerged momentarily and freed himself. Taking hold of Mrs. Muth, he towed her 100 feet to wadable water, where others aided him in taking her to shore.
