Paul Macsuga saved James W. Hardison and Thomas J. Nimmo from drowning, Buckhorn, Ontario, February 14, 1991. At night, Hardison, 46; Nimmo, 60,and another man broke through the ice on Catchacoma Lake while crossing the lake on their vehicles. In a cottage nearby, Macsuga, 31, truck driver, heard them shouting for help. He went to the scene on his snowmobile andc rawled on the ice toward the men, then returned to his cottage for a rope. Back at the scene, he again crawled toward the open water, where he threw one end of the rope to Hardison and Nimmo, then pulled them to the edge of the water and up onto solid ice. Macsuga put the men on his snowmobile and took them to his cottage, where he aided in warming them. Hardison and Nimmo sustained frostbite and lacerations to their feet. The other man drowned.
