Philip Arnold, Jr., 25, salesman, died assisting in an attempt to save Marian R. Creamer, 21, from drowning, Atlantic City, New Jersey, June 20, 1915. (See case of CHARLES G. MATLOCK, JR.) When the accident occurred, Arnold was with a companion in wadable water fully 75 feet from Marian. He and his companion swam to her, reaching her at a point 200 feet from shore. They supported her for a few minutes but found it impossible to progress shoreward. Others, including a lifeguard, came near, and Arnold and his companion then released her and swam for shore. Arnold was carried off by the current and drowned. 16122-1179
