Philip H. Gingras, 31, trafficman, saved Winifred S. Hamilton, 19, from being killed by a train, Lynbrook, New York, September 29, 1928. Miss Hamilton stepped on a track, unaware that a train was approaching on it at a speed of 50 m.p.h. Gingras ran 10 feet to her, and without stopping, he clasped her around the waist with one arm and ran from the track with her when the train was not more than 12 feet from them.
