Philo G. Plummer, 36, jobber, attempted to rescue Inez C. Gludey, 19, from a runaway, Lansing, Michigan, May 29, 1908. Plummer grabbed the line, close to the bit, of one of a team of horses hitched to a hack occupied by Miss Gludey. He was knocked down and sustained three deep cuts of the head, one severing the right ear and another the temporal artery. 2663-200
