Phyllis A. Tilston saved Margaret MacDougall from drowning, Sandfield, Ontario, August 13, 1920. Miss MacDougall, 25, fell from a raft into Sandfield Bay 40 feet from shore, where the water was about nine feet deep. Phyllis, 13, schoolgirl, swam from wadable water about 25 feet to Miss MacDougall, who was threshing violently, and took hold of her arm, but Miss MacDougall grasped Phyllis and took her under the surface. They rose but were again submerged, and Phyllis, who was becoming exhausted, freed herself and swam to wadable water. Miss MacDougall rose to the surface, unconscious, and Phyllis again swam to her and took her to wadable water, swimming with difficulty because of Miss MacDougall’s weight. Phyllis then dragged Miss MacDougall to shore, and she was revived.
