Price D. Fessenden saved Henry S. Turner from drowning, Tampa, Florida, September 24, 1931. Turner, 18, filling station attendant, who was clothed, dropped from a bridge into the Hillsborough River at a point 108 feet from the bank. Fessenden, 30, filling station assistant manager, who was fully clothed and who was advised against going to the rescue, jumped from the bridge 19 feet down to the water close to Turner. Fessenden then swam toward the bank as he supported Turner with much difficulty. After he had towed Turner 35 feet, men in a boat reached them and took them to the bank. 31678-2647
