Ralph C. Raughley, Jr., 15, schoolboy, saved Otto Piepenbrink, 16, farmhand, from drowning, Felton, Delaware, July 2, 1925. While Otto was swimming in water 10 feet deep in a pond, he lost confidence in himself and threshed wildly. Ralph, who was smaller than Otto and was weak from illness, swam 35 feet to Otto and then by great exertion pushed him slowly 30 feet to wadable water. Ralph went under the surface repeatedly while pushing Otto and was weak and dizzy when he reached the bank. 26032-2255
