Randolph Osborn, 45, teamster, attempted to rescue Donald C. Ball, 5, from a runaway, Bellingham, Washington, September 12, 1905. Osborn jumped from his wagon and, standing in the path of the runaway with a long-handled shovel, struck at the horse, which was hitched to a buggy containing the child. He was knocked down and sustained fractures of the skull and other injuries, which disabled him two months. The child escaped injury. 620-461
