Randolph S. Olmsted rescued Dennis B. Wisdom from exploding fireworks, Wappapello, Missouri, July 3, 1983. At a public display, Wisdom, 36, was igniting fireworks when one exploded prematurely three feet away, knocking him semi-conscious to the ground, atop several other live shells. Olmsted, 36, maintenance foreman, ran, then crawled to Wisdom as the remaining fireworks began to explode and pulled Wisdom out of the range of the explosions. Wisdom suffered second- and third-degree burns to his face, arms, and legs; he recovered.
