Raymond F. Tigani, 48, hotel proprietor, saved Rudolph and Leon H. Van Gelder, 28, musicians, from drowning, Luzerne, New York, August 9, 1926. Rudolph was swimming in Lake Luzerne and became distressed 75 feet from shore, where the water was 20 feet deep. Leon swam to him, but Rudolph seized him, and a violent struggle followed. Tigani, who had been advised not to exert himself or to enter water because of impaired health, swam from shore fully dressed to the two. He pushed them toward shore, and Rudolph soon became unconscious and released Leon, who then swam to wadable water. Tigani with great effort pushed Rudolph 65 feet to wadable water. Tigani was gasping and weak, but he recovered. Rudolph was revived. 26831-2226
