Richard C. Williams, 23, brakeman, saved Melvin B. Mayo, 2, from being run over by a train, Reusens, Virginia, June 17, 1906. While the train was running 15 m.p.h. and swaying under the application of the brakes, Williams got down from the pilot?beam onto the base of the pilot of the locomotive, picked up the baby from the track, and, feeling it slipping from his grasp, threw him to one side.
