Richard Gentry, 18, laborer, saved Kenneth A. Ayre, 16, and attempted to save Minnie L. Houchin, 17, from drowning, Galena, Missouri, March 28, 1928. Gentry, who was winded by swimming and running, swam 25 feet from the bank to Kenneth. As he took hold of Kenneth, Kenneth grabbed him, and they were submerged momentarily. Gentry swam 30 feet with Kenneth to a snag near the bank. Gentry then swam 15 feet to Minnie and towed her a few feet toward the bank.
