Robert Dean Facka died attempting to save William L. Blake from suffocation, Oxnard, California, September 17, 1973. At night, fire broke out in a one-story frame dwelling occupied by Blake, 30, and his wife, who awakened but could not rouse her husband. She ran next door and reported the situation to Facka, 38, electronics technician, who went to the front door of the Blake dwelling, in which flames were spreading and smoke was very dense. Despite warnings from others, Facka entered the house. Firemen arrived; and when they reached the bedroom they found both Facka and Blake dead of suffocation. 53680-6147
