Robert E, Brown, 20, student, saved Douglas E. Frank, 13, from drowning, Fort Collins, Colorado, November 2, 1968. At night a motorboat containing Douglas and others caught fire while they were fishing in a reservoir in which there was no wadable water. All members of the fishing party jumped overboard and started to swim to the bank, greatly impeded by their heavy attire. Douglas was 10 feet from the burning boat when Brown, who had been attracted while driving by, arrived at the bank which the others of the fishing party had reached, exhausted from swimming. Undressing to his underwear and trousers, Brown dived into the cold water. Eighty feet from the bank in water 90 feet deep, he reached Douglas, who was attempting with little success to swim away from the burning boat. Brown was winded and badly chilled by the time he had towed Douglas to the bank, where the others aided them from the water.
