Robert J. V. Bock, 40, salesman, rescued Nora W. Pratt, 42, from burning, El Dorado, Arkansas, December 18, 1928. Mrs. Pratt was in her home when fire started in a rear room. The fire made considerable headway before she became aware of it. She was then dazed with fright and remained in a room adjoining a hall in which there was an outside door. The ceiling of the hall was burning, and at times the flames extended down the walls for five feet. From outside, Bock ran into the hall and then into a room in search of Mrs. Pratt. He saw her in an adjoining room and ran toward her. Mrs. Pratt then ran into the hall and toward the outside door, and Bock followed her. She ran against the jamb of the door and staggered backward. Bock caught her and pushed her out of the doorway. Mrs. Pratt was seriously burned but recovered. Bock received serious burns on his face and hands. 28945-2389
