Robert James Stephenson, 14, student, attempted to save L. Belin Tobin, 10, and W. Harold Creed, 14, student, from drowning, Morobay, Arkansas, July 26, 1921. Belin and Harold got into deep water 50 feet from the bank of Raymond Lake. Belin seized Harold, and they were submerged. Robert waded from the bank, wearing his clothing, and swam 20 feet to the boys. He grasped one of them, but both boys seized him and took him under the surface at least twice, moving him five feet farther from the bank. A young man entered and swam to them in an attempt to aid, but he was grasped and rendered helpless. They were finally drawn out by a chain of three men, two of them standing in wadable water. 24814-1940
