Robert L. Bell who attempted to save Glenn K. Wattts from drowning, Dunnville, Ontario, June 27, 1973. Glenn, 12, fell off a low dam into turbulent water in the Grand River and, unable to swim, called for help. After a factory worker had tried in vain to tow Glenn to the dam and had drowned, Robert, 17, high-school student, dived from the dam into the water. He reached Glenn and began towing him back toward the dam, but both were submerged twice. Only Robert then reappeared. Efforts to locate Glenn were unsuccessful. His body and that of the factory worker later were recovered.
