Robert L. Shaw saved Morris C. Resnik from drowning, Dallas, Texas, December 17, 1984. Morris, 9. fell into Joe’s Creek, swollen by heavy rains, and was swept downstream by a swift current. Shaw, 26, waiter, who lived near the creek, heard Morris scream and entered the water for him. Shaw swam to Morris but once he reached him found that the force of the current prevented him from standing or leaving the creek. Shaw and Morris held on to each other as they were carried downstream for more than a mile. After they were able to stop, bystanders aided them from the creek. 60084-7001
