Robert Lee Thomas rescued Yvette M. Edwards from assault, San Antonio, Texas, February 27, 1986. While Yvette, 15, was walking to a bus stop, a man attacked her with a broken bottle and forced her into a vacant lot. Yvette screamed, attracting the attention of Thomas, 23, cook, who was walking home. Thomas picked up a two-by-four that was lying nearby and started to walk toward Yvette. The assailant warned him to stay away. Yvette escaped when the assailant, who was armed with a knife, charged Thomas. Thomas struck the assailant with the two-by-four, then helped Yvette to a nearby residence. Yvette was hospitalized for deep cuts to her neck and hands, and she recovered. 60974-7060
