Robert Pacheco saved William A. Sitty from being struck by a falling crane, Jersey City, New Jersey, January 18, 1984. Sitty, 49, was operating a mobile crane on a pier when the crane tipped over, throwing him from the cab into a slip off the Hudson River. The crane caught fire and hung, precariously perched, from the edge of the pier over Sitty. Pacheco, 40, tugboat deck hand, and another man maneuvered a rowboat under the crane, which shifted. They pulled Sitty aboard and rowed several hundred feet to a point where others could lift him onto the pier. Sitty was hospitalized for his injuries. 60172-6979
